Benefits of Partnering with The Global Ball

July 15, 2008

“One Ball, Around The Globe, on One Day, for One Cause”

Extraordinary Balls are now offering partnership opportunities to companies and organizations who recognize the value of global social enterprise to parties on both sides of this exchange. We are able to connect companies with an international network of entrepreneurs.

The inaugural Global Ball is one global event taking place over a period of 24 hours.

The One Ball is being held from East to West during the evening of 8th of Nov 2008 starting from Singapore, travelling to Cape Town to climax at London’s most prestigious venue; the luxurious Grosvenor House hotel on Park Lane.

This is a pioneering event, setting the standard for the future. The various sites and cities of the ball will be linked using the very latest communication technology, enabling guests to connect with potential business partners in Australia or Dubai then enjoy the evening in lavish style.

What is in it for you as a partner?

The balls are being organised by members of a global network of entrepreneurs XL Results Foundation although they are open to anyone.

Members of this network, currently at around 6000 and growing, communicate freely around the world, establishing businesses and travelling throughout the globe and within their own cities and countries.

XL Results Foundation operate the only global accreditation scheme for businesses giving effectively to charities and causes around the world, which is called the Social Enterprise Accreditation programme (SEA).

Tickets for the ball are being sold through the website, which, at the most conservative estimate, will be viewed by at least thousands and thosuands of entrepreneurs (tickets for the ball in India are not being sold through the website due to the culture and infrastructure).

Those ready to act now can take advantage of this unique opportunity to be at the entry level of what is to become one of the most exciting and innovative movements of the 21st Century.

Where will you be on 8th November 2008?

June 14, 2008

I thought I would put fingers to keyboard to express my heart about the ONE Global Ball.

Please feel free to send this out to anyone you feel you want to tell about this amazing thing we are creating together.

From an idea has blossomed something I could not have imagined a year ago. I had travelled some part of the world and my mind had begun to conceive of myself being a global citizen, but I really hadn’t realized how that could be harnessed.

The world had seemed so vast, and I had felt so small in it that I had contented myself with the great things I could achieve in my own small perimeter.

Now, the world is about to have it’s first ever Global Ball.

ONE Ball, around the World on ONE day, for ONE cause.

The Global Ball

On 8th November 2008 the world will wake up to the beginning of a new era. On that day, thousands of people around the world will be turning their thoughts and hearts to The Hunger Project.

Those involved in organizing the different components of the ONE ball will be preparing for the night when all their hard work comes together.

Those who will be attending will be in eager anticipation of the event, of speaking with people on the other side of the world, of raising money to train and empower thousands of elected women representatives, of the amazing energy that will change the future for so many people.

Those that have heard of the ball will be excited to know that they can be involved by watching the live links that will be set up to document the occasion and even donate online.

This will be the day that marks the formation of the deliberate legacy of effective giving that will determine the way people live their lives from now on.

Every day we get closer to this event and more and more people get involved in the vast undertaking.

The first ripples that will inevitably and inexorably become the great wave of the sea change.

As the word spreads people from places we could not imagine have heard of this day. From Taiwan, to Toronto.

The ball will begin in Auckland New Zealand and travel to the west flowing through Brisbane, Perth, Singapore, Mumbai, Dubai, Cape Town and climax in London.

Each component will be contributing to the whole. The whole is more than the sum of its parts. With such high levels of consciousness, thought and intention how can we help but affect the entire world?

I am a realist, but I do believe in the power of collective thought.

I know on November 9th I will wake up a changed person in a world full of changed people knowing that together we will have changed the lives of millions forever.

What has happened since we changed the date to 08-11-08 (8th Nov 2008)?

May 15, 2008

Isn’t it amazing how we can turn something that looked like a disaster into a fantastic opportunity?

The night before last I was all at sixes and sevens because it had been suggested that it might be a good idea to change the date of the Global ball from 08-08-08.

I immediately fell into asking questions about “How?”

“How will we find new venues if we do?”
“How will everyone see this change?”
“How can we come up with the right answer to this question?”

http://www.theglobalball.com/news/about-extraordinary-balls/

We spoke about it amongst ourselves, sent out an email to the team leaders and went to bed as it was late and nothing could be done until morning.

In the morning we looked again at the pros and cons. We spoke to some of the people most involved, people in the same time zone as the Olympics.

The fact is, we had got ourselves very hung up on the significance of the date 08-08-08 and we also didn’t want to have the Global Ball clashing with any other major events.

The Olympics is a very major event. These numbers are so significant in China that not only is the Olympic opening ceremony on that date; it is timed to begin at 8-08-08!

We had concerns though, that people would be distracted from having a ball to raise money for the Hunger Project by the Olympics, and rightly so I think.

With so much controversy around China at the moment this seems even more important, especially when added to the fact that potentially four of our organising teams around the world would find it more difficult or/and expensive to host their parts of the ball and raise money for THP as a result of choosing this date.

With half of the teams being potentially seriously affected we had to take this seriously. The Singapore team had been completely unable to find a venue in Singapore and were looking at other countries to host their ball in, how fabulous that their commitment is such that in spite of that they were still going ahead!

When the teams stepped up everyone was aware of the date and some expressed their concern, as time has gone by, although everyone has continued, these concerns have not gone away.

So, we came up with a new date.

It is very far removed from 08-08-08, in fact it is 08-11-08.

Since sending out the email about the change of date the responses I have received have been overwhelmingly positive

Brisbane, are delighted about the new date, as are Cape Town, India, Singapore and UK.

Team UK made a massive change during yesterday.

I believe because they have become able to lift their heads up out of the pressure the date was causing, they have been able to really get excited about organising their ball and to make plans and take actions to make it happen fabulously and to make it truly brilliant.

The change in the mood of the team is tangible.

I think this is happening around the world.

Teams now have time to create real and lasting relationships with sponsors and contributors and to enable those people to understand what an amazing thing is happening.

To join us on the crest of this wave.

To Show Up, Step Up and Give Back.

To help make lasting sustainable positive changes.

To raise money for The Hunger Project and its work with elected women leaders in India and in this way to enable them to raise millions out of poverty.

Be the change you want to see.
