Charity Navigator’s Highest Rating Goes To…

The Hunger Project Receives Charity Navigator’s Highest Rating – Again!

The Hunger Project has received, for the second year in a row, Charity Navigator’s highest rating: four stars!

This is important news. Charity Navigator, which evaluates more than 5,000 of America’s best-known charities, is dubbed the “largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities” in the US. In 2007 alone, more than four million philanthropists of all levels visited CharityNavigator.org to learn about different charities and perform due diligence before making their philanthropic contributions.

We achieved the coveted four-star rating after Charity Navigator’s thorough evaluation of our organization’s fiscal management. Specifically, the rating is based on our efficiency and capacity: how responsibly we function on a daily basis and how well poised we are to sustain and grow our programs in the future.

Only 16 percent of charities that Charity Navigator has rated have received at least two consecutive four-star evaluations. Charity Navigator writes: “The Hunger Project outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible. This ‘exceptional’ designation from Charity Navigator differentiates The Hunger Project from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust.”

Share this recognition of us by Charity Navigator with your family, friends and colleagues to encourage them to invest in The Hunger Project, so that our programs can gain increased recognition and influence other development models to help create a world free from hunger and poverty.

Where will you be on 8th November 2008?

June 14, 2008

I thought I would put fingers to keyboard to express my heart about the ONE Global Ball.

Please feel free to send this out to anyone you feel you want to tell about this amazing thing we are creating together.

From an idea has blossomed something I could not have imagined a year ago. I had travelled some part of the world and my mind had begun to conceive of myself being a global citizen, but I really hadn’t realized how that could be harnessed.

The world had seemed so vast, and I had felt so small in it that I had contented myself with the great things I could achieve in my own small perimeter.

Now, the world is about to have it’s first ever Global Ball.

ONE Ball, around the World on ONE day, for ONE cause.

The Global Ball

On 8th November 2008 the world will wake up to the beginning of a new era. On that day, thousands of people around the world will be turning their thoughts and hearts to The Hunger Project.

Those involved in organizing the different components of the ONE ball will be preparing for the night when all their hard work comes together.

Those who will be attending will be in eager anticipation of the event, of speaking with people on the other side of the world, of raising money to train and empower thousands of elected women representatives, of the amazing energy that will change the future for so many people.

Those that have heard of the ball will be excited to know that they can be involved by watching the live links that will be set up to document the occasion and even donate online.

This will be the day that marks the formation of the deliberate legacy of effective giving that will determine the way people live their lives from now on.

Every day we get closer to this event and more and more people get involved in the vast undertaking.

The first ripples that will inevitably and inexorably become the great wave of the sea change.

As the word spreads people from places we could not imagine have heard of this day. From Taiwan, to Toronto.

The ball will begin in Auckland New Zealand and travel to the west flowing through Brisbane, Perth, Singapore, Mumbai, Dubai, Cape Town and climax in London.

Each component will be contributing to the whole. The whole is more than the sum of its parts. With such high levels of consciousness, thought and intention how can we help but affect the entire world?

I am a realist, but I do believe in the power of collective thought.

I know on November 9th I will wake up a changed person in a world full of changed people knowing that together we will have changed the lives of millions forever.

Hattie, x
