London Team

The Global Ball in London is organised by the Extraordinary Balls team - Hattie Hasan, Mica May and Colin Fu…

Hattie Hasan. Born in London to first generation Turkish Cypriot parents, Hattie Hasan became the first member of her family to go to university. After graduating from East London University, Hattie spent 7 years teaching in London’s poorest areas of the East End.

In 1990 Hattie left the profession to re-invent herself as one of the country’s only women plumbers. She made it her mission to see women plumbers all across the country and her established brand of ‘Stopcocks Women Plumbers’ now serves as a national directory of women plumbers.

The revolutionary profiling system Wealth Dynamics, in which she is one of only 11 Master Practitioners in the UK, has helped Hattie to re-invent herself again in the forming of Extraordinary Balls.

Always the maverick and always a pioneer, Hattie has used her drive and determination to achieve and be the best at whatever she sets her mind to.

It has always been her dream to make a difference and after her visit to India in January 2008 she made it her vision to raise $250,000 for The Hunger Project by organizing the worlds first ever Global Ball.

Mica May. Mica May has always been driven by a desire for fair play. She abandoned a promising career as a choreographer with her dance company ‘Tongue in Cheek’ to live outdoors in the campaign against the nuclear warheads at Greenham Common.

Next, training as a counsellor, she worked with women survivors of sexual abuse. Following that she trained as a play therapist and worked with children and families in the deprived areas of inner city Manchester within the voluntary sector.

Encountering Wealth Dynamics and training as a Master Practitioner changed her perspective and she decided to get involved in change on a wholesale level, by combining business with effective giving.

Her Passion re-ignited by coming across the work of The Hunger Project, Mica joined Hattie and Colin in creating ‘Extraordinary Balls’. ‘Raising money for charities and having a ball doing it’.

Dr Colin Fu. Dr. Colin Fu comes from a humble background. He left home at the age of 16 and ended up on an indecent path. He turned his back on that path and went on to complete his PhD in engineering, with a scholarship from The British Council/ Warwick University, UK, in 2000. Colin was then head-hunted to work for some major research companies, including Intel Corporations. He spoke at numerous Aerospace conferences in Canada.

During the journey of figuring out what he really wanted to do, and after the set up and failure of many trial businesses, he stumbled across online marketing. He now works full time online, and teaches young people vocational engineering and business in his spare time.

He was asked to join Extraordinary Balls drawing on his 10-year experience in highly technical industries providing consulting services, project management and advanced mathematical modeling, and his proven track records in turning engineering companies around.

Colin’s in-depth knowledge of online dynamics, technical issues and human psychology, make him ideal to help Extraordinary Balls move towards its vision - “Raise money for charities, and have a ball doing it!”
